Each year, the Baltimore Area Council selects one or more recipients to be honored with the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award. This national award is presented to individuals for demonstrating involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds. This is in fulfillment of Dr. Young’s dream of justice and equality for all.
Congratulations to this year’s Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award recipients, John Brothers, President of the T. Rowe Price Foundation and President of T. Rowe Price Charitable, and Alicia Wilson, Vice President of Economic Development and Community Partnerships for Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System. John and Alicia have worked tirelessly throughout their careers to provide equity, opportunities, and service to underprivileged communities throughout the Greater Baltimore Area.
The Baltimore Area Council is very thankful to our co-chairs and 2021 Whitney M. Young Jr. Awardees, Janet S. Currie and Dr. Nancy S. Grasmick who helped to ensure this program’s continued success. Additional thanks to Mr. Barry F. Williams, our Master of Ceremonies for the night. Finally, we appreciate The Center Club of Baltimore for hosting the 2022 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Awards.
